The city will soon have Information Technology
Investment Regions (ITIRs) at Gachibowli, Uppal
and Shamshabad to promote IT in a big way.
Announcing this on Friday 23.10.2009, IT minister
K Venkat Reddy said all amenities will be put
in place in these regions to attract investments
in IT sector from domestic and international entrepreneurs.
At a press conference, the minister said a special
purpose vehicle will be floated to take up the
project under private public participation (PPP).
Forty per cent land will be given to the companies
and the remaining will be used to set up infrastructure
facilities.
Claiming that the growth in IT exports had increased
by 4 per cent when compared to last year in the
state, the minister said a high level meeting
would be organised by chief minister K Rosaiah
to prepare a new "IT plan" in the first
week of November. The plan will focus on creation
of employment opportunities in IT sector by inviting
companies to set up units in second stage cities
like Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Warangal. The
initial proposal is to provide facilities for
300 small and medium companies to generate jobs
in the sector.
Expected IT export turnover in 2009-10 is Rs 36,000
crore. It had already achieved Rs 12,000 crore
in the first two quarters, the minister informed.
Later, he released a software products directory
prepared by Hyderabad Software Exports Association.
