If
you are one who believes that silver is a poor cousin
of gold, then you need to step into Prabhaas, to
change your opinion. The newly opened one stop silver
shop, Prabhaas has now become the ideal place for the
people of twin cities to pick the glittering silver articles
which are aesthetically made. The range available here
is mind-boggling as one's eyes are dazzled by stuff from
console tables, mirrors and exquisite tea services to
puja items and jewellery.
"I have much passion for silver. It spells security
as the value never depreciates. It can be liquidated and
is not at all age or gender specific," said Surya
Prabha, the woman behind this exclusive showroom.
Apart from the articles made in India, Prabhaas
also has some designer jewellery from Italy (bracelets,
earrings, necklaces) and some artifacts from Indonesia
like the intricately worked trinket box. The prices
range from Rs. 50 to Rs. 1.75 lakh for a dream of a chandelier.
The
shop is unique for the varied uses that silver has been
put to. One can get behold of beautiful wedding cards
with envelopes in sheet thin silver (costing Rs. 50),
belt buckles, money clips, the pins and filigree toothpicks
that cost Rs. 300 here. In the jewellery section, you
can go for the Italian stuff if you tend towards straight
lines and minimalism. However, if you are more into chunky
ethnic stuff you could plunge headlong into a world of
oxidised silver embellished with semi-precious stones
from Rajasthan and Gujarat. The anklets
at Rs. 460 are the perfect blend of trendy and traditional.
"I
would like to introduce people to silver and enhance the
standard of living," Surya Prabha said about
introducing silver furniture. The console from Gujarat
that costs around Rs. 1.5 lakhs and 'Palavelli',
the canopy for Lord Ganesh during Ganesh Chaturti
in silver are some of the best articles available. Besides
these, the creations using Karimnagar filigree
are in a word, awesome. Made by bending thin wires into
every possible shape, the objects depict the man's mastery
over metal. Coloured enamelware, the heavier work from
Calcutta and the lighter UP enamel work
is also used on curios for a different look.
"We
are planning to explore the market in the race clubs,
as we could make horses, cups, and mementos in silver,"
said Surya Prabha when asked about her future plans.
So whenever you need that perfect corporate gift and need
to make someone feel special or just want to pamper yourself,
just think Prabhaas.
