'ADRENO' AND 'ENERGY'
- DREAM BIKES FROM LML |
The
two-wheeler market in India is, in general,
changing on the fast track. Thesedays, people irrespective
of their age, prefer the motorcycle to the scooter.
Fuel efficiency and comfortable riding are the main
reasons for the shift. 'In Andhra Pradesh
the motorcycle segment leapfrogged from a 20% market
share in 1996 to 44% in Jan-Sept 2000.' (Times
of India, 20 Nov 2000). In tune with the changing
scenario all the major motorcycle manufacturers
have started launching their latest models in Hyderabad
along with the other major cities of India. In December
2000, LML launched its maiden motorcycle
models - 'Adreno' and 'Energy' in
Hyderabad.
The
LML 'Adreno' has a powerful 4-stroke 8.5 bhp engine
with 3 valves in 5 speeds, whereas the classy model
'Energy' has a 8.5 bhp engine in 4 speeds.
When hyderabad-best.com approached
Mr. Ajoy Mohanthi, the Regional Manager,
LML, he explained the exclusive features of the
new bikes. "The 'Adreno' is a smooth and
flamboyant model. You can feel the bike buzzing
beneath your fingertips as you hit the road. The
widest rear tyres make your ride steady and disc
brakes provide you more safety. The classy LML 'Energy'
is the essence of the beauty and the beat in two
wheelers. Super chrome headlights and dials, a hi-rise
fuel tank and the widest rare tyres contribute to
a classy ride with a 8.5 bhp engine in 4 speeds."
He
further explained, "'Adreno' and 'Energy'
both come with the same engine features. But, if
you pull the full throttle of the 'Adreno' it will
cross 90 kilometres per hour while 'Energy' reaches
85 kilometres in the same time. The extra power
of the Adreno can be attributed to its 5-speed gear
box. Both bikes have a fuel efficiency of 60 to
65 kmpl depending on the riding conditions. You
have an option to fit disc brakes for perfect braking
and electric start system for quick ignition if
you choose 'Adreno'."
The prices of these bikes are fixed on par with
the existing bikes in the section viz. Hero Honda
CBZ and Suzuki Fiero. "The two bikes fall
under
premium segment as per our basic policy. But the
'Adreno' has some additional advantages over 'Energy'.
With Rs. 50,000 plus price tag Adreno falls under
premium class, at the same time Energy, which has
same engine features of Adreno costs less than that
and fits into the economy class. The ex-showroom
prices of the Adreno and Energy are Rs.45,063 and
Rs. 44,163 respecively. If you choose Adreno with
disc brakes you have to pay Rs. 3,500 extra (Total
comes to Rs. 48,563). Further you can fit electric
starter for quick ignition at Rs. 3,401. Finally
if you like to take delivery of the Adreno with
disc brakes and electric starter you have to pay
Rs. 51,964," said Ajoy.
