Some of the old classics like 'Roots' by Alex Hailey, and T Lobsand Rampa's 'I Believe' are available here. Fiction, non-fiction, biographies, books on self-improvement, meditation, palmistry, dictionaries, philosophy, psychology, astronomy, environment, photography, fashion - name any subject you will find here.

A place for bookwormsCategorised along with the famous 'Bookworm' of Delhi, Best Book Centre provides precious books at affordable prices. The books available here are cheap. More over, you can hope of getting 40-50 percent discount on each book- almost less than half the price. A favourite shop for the book lovers of the city, the outlet showcases thousands of books that are lined in the shelves, which test the patience of the buyer. The more one searches with patience, more chance of finding a good book.

Books lined along the shelvesBest Book Centre was started by two brothers Hamed Ali and Ahmed Ali. Initially they sold books along the pavements in the busy Abids on Sundays and other holidays. After seeing the positive response from the public they opened an exclusive outlet for old books in 1984. Since then the bookshop has been a favourite destination for the bookworms. Many academicians and people holding high positions often visit this shop for buying books. "People who like books particularly old books visit our shop," says Hamed Ali. The books here are collected from people and also from different places like Calcutta, Delhi and Mumbai. Academicians, journalists, students, scientists, doctors all visit this shop to buy the books. ABK Prasad, famous journalist and former editor of Telugu daily 'Vaartha' was so impressed with the collection of the books that he immediately sent his correspondent to write an article, which was subsequently featured in the newspaper.

Ahmed Ali of Best Book CentreApart from the compliments and accolades from its customers, the shop also faces a problem in the form of less profit margin. But the two brothers are quite happy in sticking to the policy of selling old books. "We don't sell new books as they are ubiquitous and are easily available in the market. If we resort to selling new books, people still treat them as old books because of our reputation in selling old books. But the thing which satisfies us is the happiness of the customer. Sometimes, when customers find the book of their choice in our shop, which they couldn't get outside, they feel ecstatic and that gives us lot of satisfaction," says Hamed who is not much educated but finds happiness in educating others in the form of selling books through this shop.

If you are an avid reader of books with little money in hand then Best Book Centre is an ideal place to check in.
