History The Baan Company is a profit making
, public limited company. Founded in the Netherlands
in 1978 by Jan & Paul Baan, The Baan Company
shipped its first information systems in 1982. It now
has dual headquarters in Putten, The Netherlands,
and Reston, Virginia, United States of America.
It also operates direct and indirect sales channels in
80 countries.
Since 1995, the Company has significantly expanded its
sales and service presence in North America, Latin
America and certain European and Asian markets.
To date, more than 2,000 of its enterprise systems have
been implemented at approximately 4,800 sites around the
world. The Company's net revenues have increased from
$226.7 million in 1995 to $679.6 million in 1997. The
number of employees has more than doubled from 1,618 employees
on December 31, 1995 to 4, 254 on December 31, 1997.
Baan operates in a skills and labour intensive market,
focusing on Development Education and Maintenance
of Software Products. Baan has three main international
service centers in the world. They are in the USA,
Netherlands and India.
In India, Baan has four thrust areas.

in Hyderabad and Mumbai Centres.
- Education and Training in Hyderabad.
- Maintenance and Customer Care in Hyderabad and Mumbai
- Marketing in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.

Baan Front Office Product and initiatives in E-enterprise,
Baan Supply Chain Systems and Baan Corporate
Office (CODA), Baan's Dynamic Enterprise Modeling
