Thanks
to Chandrababu Naidu's efforts to make Hyderabad,
one of the prominent IT cities in the world. The
awareness about computers, software and hardware is now
well-established in the minds of Hyderabadis than never
before. Even the school children are also very much enthusiastic
about the computers. "How shall I animate a picture?",
"What sort of software and hardware need to be installed
in the computer?", "Which is the best PC for
Homes?" were some of the common questions from
the children at the Compaq Presario Carnival held
in Hyderabad from 23-25
December 2000. The event held in coincidence with the
Christmas holidays, organised by Compaq Presario,
India's No.1 Home PC. Inspired by the earlier carnivals
at Mumbai and Chennai, this time Compaq
came to Hyderabad. The objective of the carnival was to
make Hyderabadis aware of the Compaq's latest products
and services.
Most of the Compaq authorised retailers of Hyderabad participated
with some big bargain offers. Moreover, easy finance schemes
were also made available. Spot prizes, quiz contests,
games, magic shows and
various other entertainments were the part of the show.
The event really gave an informative presentation to entire
family in Christmas weekend. "The carnival is
very much useful to persons like me who knew very little
about computers. I came here to decide what type of computer
will be helpful to my growing children," said
Kumar, a state government employee. He visited the show
with his family.
Home PCs, Laptops, Palm pilots, peripherals like printers,
speakers, modems,
joysticks, Web Cameras and Video-conferencing tools were
all on a glittering display at the carnival. The colour
cabinet tops to personalise the PC were the cynosure of
the show.
"We are trying to provide an easy experience of
computers with fun and entertainment for the entire family
under one roof. In fact, we got a tremendous response
from our previous two carnivals in Mumbai and Chennai
and here too," said Sanjay Bahuguna, Area
Sales Manager, Compaq India. The youngsters who visited
the show might have decided to own a Compaq or the Compaq
only. Such was the Compaq carnival impact on the visitors!
