Twin Cities Computer Dealers Association
was formed in 1996 and plays an important role
in unifying the computer dealers of the twin cities.
By bringing all the computer dealers of the twin
cities under one roof, the Association is able
to communicate the problems faced by them in an
effective way. It resolves disputes between computer
dealers by evolving a code of conduct which places
emphasis on mutual respect for each other and
honouring the commitments in terms of payments,
etc. The Association also helps the government
in framing the policies related to Information
Technology."Recently the members of the Association
met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and requested
him to evolve a rational tax structure for all
computer peripherals which will help in boosting
the business of computer dealers," said TS
Srinivasan, Secretary, Twin Cities Computer
Dealers Association.
The
Association which has nearly 150 dealers as its
members including 25 corporate bodies, conducts
workshops from time to time to make the members
abreast of the latest developments in the software
field. They also organize an annual family event
where the members of the Association gather with
their families and have lots of fun. "This
family get together helps the computer dealers
of the twin cities to understand each other informally,"
said TS Srinivasan. The recent
family event was held at Tulip Manohar, where
all the members played games like tambola and
had lots of fun. The members of the Association
meet every 45 days and discuss the problems faced
by the computer dealers and analyze the developments
taking place in the IT sector.
About
the future plans of the Association, he says,
"once the dark clouds hovering around the IT
sector fizzle out then we will have a lot of work
to do, particularly in shaping the IT scenario
in the state," says Srinivasan. The Association
plans to set up its own office and expand further
in terms of adding new members to its Association.
About the bad phase, the software field is passing
through, Mr Srinivasan feels that this is a temporary
one and will not last for long. "This
is the time when we need to upgrade ourselves
in terms of technical expertise," says
Srinivasan.
Mr Srinivasan is also the CEO of Octagon CCS,
a company which offers consultancy services in
the IT related field. The company provides software
solutions right from networking onwards to integrating
the same with hardware and software. They deal
with computers and peripherals of companies of
repute like Hewlett Packard, IBM, Acer, Epson,
and Samsung.
