Wilco
International is a software house specialising in
financial services, transaction processing systems and
enterprise application integration. Founded in 1970,
Wilco International has a worldwide presence with offices
in London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Geneva and Hyderabad.
The company entered India in 1999 when it acquired a
substantial portion of the offshore development operation
of DE Shaw India Software Private Ltd. (DESIS).
With human resources and physical assets thus acquired,
a new business unit Wilco International Systems Private
Limited came into existence with its headquarters
housed in DESIS' former office in Hyderabad. Leveraging
on the expertise of the former DESIS' employees, the
unit ventured into providing data management service.
A wholly owned subsidiary of US based, $6 billion Automatic
Data Processing (ADP) Inc. (one of the largest independent
computing services), Wilco International provides a
range of software products for global transaction processing,
market standard interfaces and enterprise-wide middleware.
Its star product is Gloss, a real-time system
that automates the trade processing life cycle for investment
banks, brokers and custodians. More recently, Wilco
International has prototyped its applications into the
WAP (wireless application protocol) format. The
company also provides consultancy and analysis services
to financial organisations like Merrill Lynch, Goldman
Sachs, Nomura, IBJS, UBS Warburg and Deutsche Bank.
The Hyderabad centre has several
achievements to its credit. According to Managing
Director of Wilco-India, Shakti Sagar,"The
Hyderabad centre has developed Wilcos On-line,
its first web-based product and certain critical solutions
using state-of-the-art technologies for one of the three
largest investment banks in the world."
During the last financial year, the Hyderabad unit
registered a 100 per cent growth with a turnover of
Rs 25 crore. Its projected revenue for the next year
is Rs 60 crores. Wilco International plans to invest
Rs 100 crore over the next three years in its Indian
operations. During this period it expects to triple
its manpower to 1000 employees. Wilco India has already
increased its staff strength from 100 to 225 professionals
within a year. The company's exponential growth is best
explained by John Byrnes, Director, Finance,
Wilco International when he says, "The growth
reflects two key factors - recognition and acceptance
of Wilco India as an ideal employer and as one who provides
the right environment to excel."
