 The
Indian Institute of Information Technology,
( IIIT ), Hyderabad is an autonomous, self- supporting
institution that was started in1998 with support from
the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The ambition of the
IIIT is to impart IT education of the highest quality
to its alumni. An integrated curriculum that consists
of a highly diverse set of IT courses, inter-disciplinary
IT research projects, day-to-day interaction with the
industry, preparation in entrepreneurship and personality
development courses are offered here.
THE CORPORATE SCHOOLS
 IIIT
- Hyderabad, aims to leverage Information Technology for
India and is a new generation institute. It is promoted
by the IT industry consisting of the corporate schools
of IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Satyam and Metamor.
These corporates have their own schools, which are
headed by top officials.
These Schools provide access to the state of-the-art technologies
in their core areas and conduct credit courses
for the UG and PG programmes of IIIT. Besides,
short term programmes in various areas of specialisation
is also offered.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
Academic programmes at the Institute are designed
to enable growth and learning in a highly focussed and
application-based environment. The Institute offers courses
at all levels - undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral.
Undergraduate Co urse
and Curriculum : The undergraduate Course is of a
4 year duration leading to Graduate Diploma in Information
Technology. ( GDIT ).This course is on par with the
BE/ Batch programmes. Eligibility : 10+ 2 or its
equivalent
The mode of selection is purely on the basis of
performance in the following nation-wide entrance examinations.
1. Higher Secondary Examination of any recognised Central
/ State Board of Secondary Education, under the 10+2 system
2. Intermediate Science or Two year Pre- University Examination
conducted by a recognised Board / University.
3. All India Senior School Certificate(ISSC) Examination
conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education,
New Delhi.
Post - Graduate and Doctoral programmes is also in the
offing. RESEARCH CENTRES AND PROGRAMMES
Research is one of the primary objectives of the IIIT
Hyderabad. Industry funded research centres will be an
integral part of the Institute. These include Multi- Lingual
Technologies, Information Security and Cognitive Sciences.
