Construction
Workers' Training Institute (CWTI) is the first
of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, engaged in training construction
workers. Established in August 1999, CWTI is one of the
seven constituents ofthe National Academy of Construction
(NAC). The prime objective of the CWTI is to improve
the skills and standardise efficiency levels of the construction
workers.
CWTI
educates the workers to deliver quality work with optimum
utilisation of resources. Faculty includes experts from
the construction industry and government departments.
Along with classroom instructions, the students are taken
to various construction sites for practical training.
At present CWTI is offering training in trades like
General Supervisor, Mason, Shuttering Carpenter, Bar-Bender,
Plumber and Electrician. The institute also plans
to introduce 38 other trade-related courses. Any person
who can read and write and is interested to join the construction
industry
and also workers already engaged in the industry are eligible
for admission. Engineering and supervisory staff working
in government, private and public undertakings are also
eligible. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)
will issue certificates to successful candidates at the
end of training.
Those interested can choose either regular or distance
learning modes. The duration of each course is three months
and the fee is Rs. 2,500.
