Seats of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode,
Lucknow will be allotted to the candidates as per the
ranks obtained in the CAT (Common Admission Test) conducted
every year. CAT-2001 will be conducted on December 9,
2001.
All IIMs offer Post Graduate Programmes in Management
equivalent to MBA. Candidates who have passed
three-year bachelors degree in any discipline or expected
to obtain the degree before June 30, 2002 are eligible
to appear the CAT 2001.
The CAT Bulletin containing the CAT Application
Form and other information can be obtained at branches
of State Bank of India, between August 6 and
September 22, 2001 for Rs. 1000 (Rs.500 for SC/ST candidates).
In Andhra Pradesh the CAT Bulletin can be had from SBI,
Bank Street, Hyderabad; Rastrapati Road, Secunderabad;
Kakinada, Kurnool, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam,
Warangal (Hanumakonda). Under exceptional circumstances,
a copy of the CAT Bulletin can be obtained from Incharge-Admissions,
Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Banneraghatta
Road, Bangalore-560 076 by sending a crossed demand
draft payable at Bangalore for Rs. 1050 (Rs. 525 for
SC/ST) drawn in favour of 'Indian Institute of Management
Bangalore' latest by October 1, 2001.

B.R. AMBEDKAR OPEN UNIVERSITY NOTIFICATION
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad,
offers following courses on correspondence mode. All
the Degree and PG Diploma courses are of one year duration
and Certificate Programmes are of six months.
B.L.I.Sc (Bachelors degree in Library and Information
Science): The applicant seeking admission into the course
must be graduate of a recognised university, completed
20 years of age, and must be either working in a recognised
Library or possessing a Certificate in Library Science
from a Government recognised institution.
B.P.R. (Bachelors degree in Public Relations):
English Medium only. Applicant must be graduate. Preference
will be given to the candidates having experience in
Public Relations/Communication/Advertising and Mass
Media Organisations and allied fields.
PGDMM (P.G.Diploma in Marketing Management),
PGDBF (P.G. Diploma in Business Finance) PGDEVS
(P.G. Diploma in Environmental Studies): All these three
courses will be offered in English Medium. PGDHR
(P.G. Diploma in Human Rights) Telugu Medium, PGDWS
(P.G.Diploma in Women Studies) English Medium. Eligibility
for all the above courses Candidates should be graduate
from any faculty.
PGWMMT (P.G. Diploma in Writing for Mass Media
in Telugu): Applicant must be a graduate or should have
passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination and
have at least three years experience in writing for
Media.
CPFN (Certificate Programme in Food and Nutrition):
Telugu and Urdu Medium. It is open to all literate men
and women who have attained the age of 18 years as on
1st July, 2001.
CIC (Certificate Course in Computing): English
Medium. Candidate should have pass Intermediate or equivalent
examination.

033, from 19 July between 10.30am and 5 pm on all working
days. The cost of the application form and prospectus

SCHOLARSHIPS INDIA-2002
Applications
are invited from outstanding graduates of Indian Universities
for six scholarships, for a course of study leading to
a degree of the University of Oxford (UK). The
scholarship covers all academic, travel and living expenses.
Candidates must hold atleast a first class honours degree
in Pure or Applied Science, Humanities, Law or Medicine.
Candidates in the final year of their degree courses with
exceptional academic record may also apply. Apart from
academic distinction, indicate continuing interest and
achievement in extra curricular activities such as sports,
theatre and community work. Candidates must be between
the ages of 19 and 25 on October 1, 2002.

Admission process
for the prestigious engineering institutes of India -
IITs - is on. The candidates who wish to seek admission
into the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay,
Delhi, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Madras) in the academic
year 2002-2003, have to pass through the Joint Entrance
Examination, popularly known as JEE. The entrance
test will be conducted in two phases - screening test
and main examination. The candidates who qualified in
the screening test (JEE-2002) will be allowed to appear
in the main examination of JEE-2002.
Minimum Qualification: A pass in 10+2 or an equivalent
examination, or a pass in a three/four year diploma recognised
by AICTE by a State Board of Technical Education. Candidates
appearing in any of these examinations in 2002 may also
apply; a proof of having passed such an examination to
be produced before September 30, 2002.
Age Limit: Date of Birth not earlier than: October
1, 1977 for General / DS category candidates and October
1, 1972 for SC / ST / PH category candidates.
Cost of the application: Rs. 300 for SC/ST category
candidates and Rs. 600 for all other candidates. It includes
examination fee.
Applications can be obtained from, JEE Office of any IIT,
by ordinary post, on sending a demand draft of the cost
of the application material drawn on any nationalism bank
