Nurturing a child's creativity
The Creative Painting School started by Magunta
Dayakar, a prolific writer and creative artist, is
housed in the Art House located in Srinagar
Colony. The Art House, with neatly laid arrays of
art books, provides a good ambience and the right kind
of atmosphere for creativty.
Children at the Creative Painting School learn in three
stages. In the first stage, they have free access to all
art books to draw and paint. In the next stage the children
are encouraged to draw from their memory and imagination.
The purpose is to teach children to observe and concentrate.
In the final stage, the children are guided to draw and
paint better. The school aims at improving children's
technical skills; make them well versed in basic shapes
and sizes by teaching them to draw visible objects. To
improve their concentration and observation, they are
taught to draw from memory and imagination. To impart
an aesthetic sense for colours, they are taught to display
integration while mixing colours.
To encourage students to do their best, the Creative Painting
School evaluates the work of each student and awards certificates
to the best of the lot. The school sends quarterly progress
reports to the child's parents. At the end of the course
the school issues certificates to students and also brings
out a school magazine to record the best works of every
student. Besides the school also publishes Art and
Artist, an art magazine on technical skills for young
and amateur artists. The school runs courses separately
for children between the age groups 4 - 6 years, 6 -8
years and 8 years and above. Classes are held twice a
week.
