Hyderabad
Public School is one of the most prestigious educational
institutions in the twin cities. The school was established
in 1923 by the erstwhile Nizam to impart education
to the children of the nobility. In 1952, the Government
of Andhra Pradesh took over the school. It is now a co-educational
institution, controlled by a society called the Hyderabad
Public School Society.
Located just a few kilometres away from the Begumpet
Airport, the campus is spread over 90 acres of lush,
green land. It is famous for its two heritage buildings,
renowned for their architectural excellence.
The school has 3000 students on its roll, ably managed
by the Principal, Mr Sardanha and his staff. The
teacher-student ratio is 1:25. The teachers are
trained at regular intervals to keep them informed of
the latest on the teaching frontiers.
The
school provides a hostel accommodation but the Day Scholars
too are also entiled to breakfast and lunch.180 appointed
matrons take care of the children in the hostel.
The school is affiliated to the ICSE Board for
Class X examination and ISC Board for Class
XII. The fee ranges from Rs 35,000 per annum for a boarder
and Rs 16,000 per annum for a day scholar.
This year, the school introduced coaching classes for
students appearing for the IIT and other entrance
examinations. A CA-Foundation course is in the
offing for next year. Academics apart, sports, art and
music are given their due place in the curriculum. A student
