Being
one of the few schools in the city, producing quality
and meritorious students, Sujatha High School located
in Abids is famous for imparting quality education
to students. The school established in the year
1966 by late Sita Jai Singh has grown from a small
school to the present Sujatha group of institutions, comprising
Sujatha Post Graduate College, Sujatha Junior College,
Sujatha Degree College and Sujatha BCA College. Sita
Singh had her own vision for the school that would be
both a seat of learning and a center for character building.
True to her vision the school has evolved into an improtant
centre for education and excellence. From a mere 40 students
and five teachers initially, Sujatha school now has more
than 3500 students and 150 teachers.
Right
from its inception Sujatha school has strived for excellence
in education. It has made education into a joyful experience
for the over all development of the child's mind and body.
A congenial atmosphere is created in the school with spacious
well furnished class rooms and a well stacked library
with wide ranging books. The school has a unique house
system through which the talents of the students are brought
to light, helping them to shed their inhibitions and face
life boldly, shaping them into complete and balanced individuals.
"The school lays special emphasis on all round
development of the student through house system. Every
student from class 1 onwards is placed in one of the four
houses alpha, beta, gamma, omega, which is headed by a
boy or a girl as house captains" says P Jai
Singh, Secretary and husband of late Sita Singh.
As
computer education is shaping into an important part of
our lives, the school is putting special emphasis on IT
education. The school posseses a separate air-conditioned
computer lab. And it is one of the very few schools having
NIIT LEDA (Learning thorough Exploration Discovery
Adventure) program for the students. Along with education,
there are many other things that define Sujatha school.
Students of this school are made to inculcate the core
values that shape up the human beings--descipline, dedication,
honesty and hard work.
The
school also offers clubs and associations so that the
hidden talents of the children can be trapped. Through
Literary association, Scientist forum, Kalabhavan, Young
Picasso's Club, the students are encouraged to take part
actively in extra-curricular ativities. Apart from this,
one of the special features of the school has been Junior
Red Cross. Sujatha school is an active member of Junior
Red Cross (JRC). Through this students are encouraged
to involve in the development of the society. Our students
of JRC help the poor and needy during wars, destruction
and natural calamities like floods and famine and promote
friendliness among all citizens, says Jai Singh.
The efforts of JRC were applauded even by the Governor
Dr C Rangarajan when the students of Sujatha school
did commendable work to help the earthquake victims of
Gujarat. The students collected clothes, blankets and
money for the quake affected victims of Gujarat.
The
entire family of Jaisingh is closely attached with the
school and works tirelessly for giving quality education
for the students. Jai Singh's two sons Jai Prakash
Singh, Prithvi Raj Singh and daughter Sujatha
are always there in the school to guide the students in
the proper direction. They mingle with the students freely
and motivate the students to take part actively in the
literary and cultural activities that are held in the
school from time to time.
