NEW COURSE IN JEWELLERY MAKING

Gold Council (WGC) in association with Directorate
of Technical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh
will start a polytechnic course in jewellery making
for the benefit of those who want to pursue their
career in jewellery. The course will commence from
July 2001 at Masab Tank Polytechnic College.
This was disclosed by Mr Shivaram of World
Gold Council on the occasion of Swarnanjali
award winning jewellery exhibition held at Taj
Krishna hotel.
The duration of the course will be three months
to one year. The staff will be people who are experienced
in the field of jewellery manufacturing and also
from National institute of Fashion Technology
(NIFT) and Jute Development Corporation (JDC).
Mr Shivaram said that the students after passing
the exam will be employed in the jewellery manufacturing
centres across India.
The world Gold Council, head quartered in London
is an international non-profit organisation funded
by leading gold mining companies from across the
world. Through its offices located in 23 countries,
it influences the attitudes and behaviour of actual
and potential public and private sectors of the
