With dedication, discipline, and determination
people reach new heights. There is one such example
where a woman with her hardwork and dedication
took an engineering industry to a top position.
The woman is Kavita Goel, the Managing
Director of Constructional Engineers & Builders.
She has transformed the face of her industry by
upping a meager turnover of Rs. 10 lakh per annum
to a turnover of Rs.280 lakh per annum.

postgraduate in commerce from Nizam College, Kavitha
worked hard to bring the company to the top. Right
from its inception in the late seventies, she
put in lots of effort in nurturing it. Ultimately
her efforts have paid off and the company has
achieved excellent growth.
The company, Constructional Engineers & Builders,
that she heads is basically an engineering industry.
They manufacture cast iron pipes, fitting CID
joints, manhole covers and different types of
valves for major and minor rural water supply
schemes. They had started with a small capacity
of 10 million tonnes per annum and at present
their capacity is 200 million tonnes. Says Kavita,
"Insistent on quality and manufacture of wide
range of products has made the customers confident
about her industry and has also led to its quick
growth."
Their major customers include Panchayat Raj,
(rural water supply) and Public Health and
Engineering Departments. The company has shown
major concern for pollution and has installed
the most modern air pollution control equipments.
Kavita who is behind the success of the company
is not only a successful industrialist but also
takes keen interest in social work. She is the
secretary of the family trust and looks after
the maintenance of a 20-bedded dharmashala
and a diagnostic centre. How does she find
time for all these activities? Says Kavita, "
I dedicate all Saturdays exclusively for social
activities".
She takes active interest in finding employment
to women and the handicapped. She has also received
the Best Employer Trophy for employing the
Handicapped from the president of India during
the year 1977-78. Disclosing her future plans,
she says " we want to manufacture cast iron
grills and are planning to export the products
to middle east, US and European markets."
Recognising her hard work, dedication, and foresight
All India Manufacturers Organisation (AIMO)
honoured her with "best women entrepreneur"
for the year 1999-2000.
