Think
of a film on Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Telugu
Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.
Sounds interesting! It should be. Inspired by a
recent film 'Oke Okkadu', the ruling party
leaders mooted the idea to immortalise Chandrababu on
celluloid.
Chandrababu's developmental programmes, policies, the
novel 'Janmabhoomi' programme, his 18-hour workday
filled with surprise visits, Tele-conferences and Video-conferences
will be soon scripted into a full-length feature film.
The title of the film is 'Maa Babu' (meaning
'Our Babu'). The well known Telugu film star Venkatesh,
the son of TDP MP and renowned producer Rama Naidu,
is likely to play the lead role, the heartthrob
Soundarya would co-star him.
The
inspiration film 'Oke Okkadu',
in which star Arjun, a journalist-turned-Chief
Minister in the film, reforms the system single-handedly
and his repertoire included surprise visits like Chandrababu
Naidu. When the film was released about a year ago,
the audience had related to the protagonist seeing parallels
between Arjun and Chandrababu Naidu. And now with the
panchayat elections coming up, TDP leaders tick on this
idea to shore up the image of Chandrababu Naidu. 'Maa
Babu' will be released at the time of elections
and is expected to work in favour of the TDP.
The
Telugu Desam Party itself might produce the film with
a hugebudget of Rs. 3 - 4 crore. Currently, efforts
are on to script the film for which well-known script
writers have been consulted. The search is on for a
director who can make a film with political overtones
woven with a commercial tint. TDP sources considering
Krishna Vamsi, a creative Telugu film director
for the prestigious job.
Minister
for Information and Public Relations,
N. Shiva Prasad, who has a film background, is
looking after the production work. He is confident of
completing the picture within a month's time if the
script, actors and other requirements are at hand. Well,
who is going to clap the muhurtham shot for this project?
Don't go for any lifelines. It's none but Chandrababu
himself. Please lock it!
