Transcending
all barriers of language and dialect, Virgin Records presents
Bhoomi, an album, which truly confirms that 'Music
Speaks Louder Than Words'
'Bhoomi' is a different album that juxtaposes traditional
Indian folk music with the contemporary sound of the
underground. Steeped in tradition and arranged in contemporary
fashion, the songs on the album have the potential to
appeal to all types of listeners. An album that has been
mixed uniquely, a sound that is as 'pure' as can be, with
the minimal use of processing. It has eight songs - in
seven different Indian languages. Some of India's famous
musicians like Ronu Mazumdar on flute, Karl Peters on
bass, Ulhas Bapat on santoor, Rajendra Singh on swarlin,
Niladri Kumar on sitar, Kurt Peters on drums, Kalyan Barua
on guitars and of course Ustad Sultan Khan on sarangi,
made the instrumentation. The solo parts in the album
are extremely exciting, all put together by Music Directors
Salim and Sulaiman Merchant who lovingly crafted
the arrangements note by note.
