The
Mish Mash band from Poland took the City
by storm with rock 'n' roll, pop and disco. The professional
duo - Derek and Eva enthralled audiences
in Taj Residency with their sizzling numbers selected
from different popular albums across the world.
Eva and Derek performed in The Blue Flower, a multi-cuisine
restaurant in Taj Residency, which serves the choicest
of Indian and Continental dishes. The concert was organised
to celebrate Valentine's Day in a special way.
The Blue Flower was beautifully decorated with 'Happy
Valentine' cards adorning the walls. And to suit
the occasion the duo sang romantic songs. "We are singing
mostly the popular romantic numbers taken from the albums
of Tracy Chapman, Kenny G and Daler Mehendi, as people
enjoy these songs, rather than the Polish ones which are
not known to them well," says Eva, the lead singer
of the Mish Mash band. As the name of the music band 'Mish
Mash' indicates a mix of everything, the songs also
are taken from the popular rock 'n' roll, pop and folk
music to the traditional evergreens, country, reggae and
disco hits.
Mish
Mash band have been giving performances together for over
six years now. They gave some memorable performances in
different countries like France, Germany, Poland, Jordan
and UAE. "We generally play English, Spanish,
German, French, Russian, Polish, Arabic, Hindi and some
Greek, Italian and Scandinavian songs without any effort.
Our wide repertoire, covers hits from 1920's up to
2001, as well as music and dance songs popular in all
parts of the world, makes us flexible in playing any type
of tune at any place," says Eva. Though Polish
music is not well known to Indians, it has some similarities
as pointed out by Eva, who says, "Polish music is very
catchy, romantic and fast, and the tunes are also quite
similar to Hindi songs and music."
She
also says, throwing light on Polish music, "The major
instruments used in Polish music are the violin and the
guitar." And adds, "Even today traditional music
is still flourishing in Poland and you can find a bunch
of four guys walking around in the streets singing and
collecting money from people."
Hailing from Lodz, the second largest city in Poland,
Eva says, "Lodz is a famous textile centre, and you
can also find few Indian cloth shops which are a hit with
the local population because of their cheap and quality
clothes."
The Mish Mash band, before coming to Hyderabad, has given
performances in Orchid Ecotel Hotel in Mumbai
and
Taj Coromandel in Chennai.
