Vinnakota Revati is only 12 years old,
but she has already graced the hall of fame by entering
the Limca Records. At the Thyagaraya Gana Sabha
which was held in 1997, she sang 400 songs continuously
for 12 hours straight! Her brilliant achievement is a
result of her relentless effort and scrupulous spirit.
Born
on February 23, in 1985 to V.V.L. Narasimham and
Lakshmi, Revati began singing at the age of six.
With the encouragement of her father, she nurtured her
innate talent. Even now her father organises a variety
show on her birthday every year.
She has won the appreciation, blessing and encouragement
of renowned persons like the Prime Minister of India,
Atal Behari Vajpayee, Central Minister for Urban
Development, Bandaru Dattatreya, well known poet,
C. Narayana Reddy and popular actor and Dada Saheb
Phalke award winner Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Over
a span of 10 years, she has given a total of 1000 shows
all over India and bagged a number of awards. For her
achievements, the Shilpa Art Creations of Hyderabad
felicitated her with the 'Swara Kinnera' title.
"When I was six, I got a chance to participate in a
group song in A.I.R. With boundless joy I went there and
returned home, disappointed as the organisers rejected
me, saying that my voice is not matching with others.
I still remember that. That failure inspired and motivated
me to sing better," Revati recalls.
Revati likes to experiment and develop a distinct
style. Pancharaga Ratnalu, Navaraga Maalika, Annamaiah
Rasa Tharangam, Ee Satabdhapu Madhura Geethaalu are
some of the varieties done by Revati. She is soon to perform
in two shows abroad and is also learning classical music.
Hope this upcoming singer will do the best not only for
herself, but for the whole nation.
