 PARTYING ON THE WAVES 
In the middle of Sagar watersWelcome aboard Bhagirathi, the Pleasure Boat which cruises on the waters of the Hussainsagar lake. Now, the people of Twin Cities have another avenue for celebration and amusement. The Flotel having a seating capacity of 130 is tastefully decorated. It has a pleasing dining and lounging area with comfortable chairs and sofas. It also has a stage where artists can perform cultural programmes, a public address system and a kitchen.

Going round the lake The boat was launched by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC). You can go on a cruise in the evenings on the waters of Hussainsagar. The cruise will take you around Tankbund, Sailing Club, Sanjeevaiah Park, Necklace Road. It also allows you to have a closer glimpse of the huge Buddha Statue shining bright in flood lights. The first three trips are carried out between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. The charges are - Adult Rs.50, Child Rs.30. After 8:00 p.m., the Bhagirathi is made available for corporate meetings and private parties.

Bhagirathi on the banks of Sagar lake The Bhagirathi was launched on November 14 and Dr. Reddy's Labs hosted the first private party on the Cultural Deck. The rent for the two-and-a-half hours time slot is Rs. 5000. For every additional half-an-hour Rs. 500 is charged. The person or company celebrating the party on board can organise their caterers to serve food. Or else, APTDC can also arrange it if you place an order. APTDC also have a panel of folk dancers, qawwalis and ghazal singers who can be booked on prior information.

Bhagirathi, named after the loved wife of Ibrahim Qutub Shah, the man behind the Hussain Sagar, has been designed by National Ship Design and Research Company, Vishakhapatnam and built by Secon Builder at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh. There are also plans to introduce a double-decker launch in Hussain Sagar which will have a restaurant on the lower deck and facilities for conference and amusement on the upper deck. Well, the next time you think of a celebration think of Bhagirathi.
