They
are masters in their fields. Their contributions
are immense. Their hard work and efforts brought
great laurels to the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Recognising their contributions, Government
of India, honoured them with prestigious 'Padma'
Awards, which are given to the achievers in
different fields every year. This time, nearly twenty
luminaries of Andhra Pradesh bagged those awards.
Andhras hold their recognition in all the three
civilian honours Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan
and Padma Shri. Renowned personalities
Yamini Krishna Murti, Bhanumati Ramakrishna,
Shoba Naidu, S.P. Balasubramanyam, D.V.S.
Raju and Nerella Venumadhav were few
among those from A.P, who got 'Padma' Awards this
year.
First
among all, Kotta Satchidananda Murty was
the only person to get the Second Civilian honour
of the country, 'Padma Vibhushan'. Satchidananda
Murty belongs to Guntur and is aptly honoured
with this prestigious award for his contributions
in the field of Literature and Education.
Renowned
dancer, Padma Shri, Yamini Krishna Murti got
'Padma Bhushan' award this year. As a Classical
dancer, she delighted the dance lovers of the World
through Kuchipudi, Odissi and Bharata Natyam dance
forms. She belongs to Madhanapalle of Chittor
District. Through her 'Yamini School of dance',
New Delhi, she is contributing to the art of
dance. The yesteryear's dream girl and Versatile,
Dr. Bhanumati Ramakrishna is the other celebrity
of the State to get 'Padma Bhushan' award for her
contributions to the film industry and its development.
As an actress, dancer, poet, film director and music
director, everyone knows Bhanumati for the past
sixty years. She got numerous awards in different
fields. Besides these two, Dr. Palle Rama Rao
(Science and Engineering, Hyderabad), Prof. Shiv
K. Kumar (Literature and Education, Hyderabad)
and Dr. Bhupathi Vissam Raju (Trade and economic
activity, Hyderabad) were also honoured with this
award.
This
time, many Padma Shri awards have been showered
on Andhra Pradesh. Acknowledged as 'Gana Gandharva',
S.P and Balu, Sripati Panditharadhyula
Balasubramanyam, the legendary singer from Telugu
film industry has received 'Padma Shri' this
year. Bala Subramanyam has sung above 40 thousand
songs till today for films in many Indian languages.
Eminent film personality, D.V.S. Raju also
got the same honour along with Balu. Not only as
renowned Producer, but also as the First Chairman
of National Film Development Corporation, Founder
President for Producer's Council and Film Chamber
of Commerce, President of South Indian Film
Chamber of Commerce and President of Film
Federation of India, he contributed a lot to
the film industry. One more dancer from Hyderabad,
Shoba Naidu got the 'Padma Shri'. A native
of Rajahmundry, Shoba Naidu is one of the
top 'Kuchipudi' dancers of the World.
She has established 'Kuchipudi Art Academy' and
teaches dance. Renowned mimicry artiste of Andhra
Pradesh, Nerella Venumadhav (Warangal) was
also honoured with this award.
Apart
from these four, B. Soma Raju (Medicine),
C.M. Habibullah (Medicine), D.P. Rao (Science
and Engineering), Jeelani Bano (Literature
and eduction), K. Anji Reddy (Industry),
Dasari Prasad Rao (Medicine), Mohammad
Ahmad Zaki (Civil Service), S.T. Gnanananda
Kavi (Telugu Poetry) and S.V. Rama Rao (Painting)
from Hyderabad were among those who were awarded
with 'Padma Shri'.
