ELIXIR-
FOR THE HEALTH CONSCIOUS |
The
concept of healthy food is slowly catching up with
the people all over the world. Less of oil, less
of fat and less of sugar seems to be the new mantra
that is riveting the present generation. Elixir,
the multi-cuisine restaurant opened in Road # 7,
Banjara Hills believes in the same principle and
provides healthy food in a wealth of tastes.
The health conscious restaurant brings you a menu
of tasty, wholesome healthy food, which includes
an array of fresh fruit juices, soups, salads, and
appetizing ethnic dishes from all over the world.
"This is the first restaurant in India which
is following the concept of healthy food," says
Mr HM Reddy, proprietor of the restaurant.
The
menu of the restaurant provides joy for anyone who
believes in the healthy food and long life concept.
If you think that the restaurant has only vegetarian
dishes then you are truly mistaken. The restaurant
caters to the needs of both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
You might be wondering in what way the non-veg dishes
are going to be healthy. That's where the Elixir
proves a point. It has non-vegetarian dishes like
Kerala fish stew, Patrani macchi, Murgh tikka
labadar, Kashmiri yakhni and Malabar mutton
stew. But the specialty of these dishes is that
the dishes have controlled ingredients in the form
of less oil and less fat but rich in energy and
taste. For example Malabar mutton stew has
657 kcal of carbohydrates, 16.4 gms proteins and
53.9 gms fat, everything in controlled proportions.
The Elixir menu has lot of variety and includes
vegetarian dishes like paneer lazeez, tarkari
biryani, gucchi pulao and Andhra dishes like
punju pulusu, rekkala vepudu and chapala
pulusu. Apart from these, they also have Chinese
and Continental cuisine.
The
plush multi-cuisine restaurant also features a calorie
count menu and has a full time dietitian who guides
you on matters of diet, fat and carbohydrates. Help
in charting out a suitable diet chart is also offered
at the restaurant apart from special meals for customers
who are overweight, hypertensive and high cholesterol.
The dietitian makes sure that the food that is prepared
in the restaurant is low in fat and oil but delectable
and sumptuous. Says Mrs Radha Reddy, dietitian
who offers advice for the Elixir restaurant. "
By using just 8 grams of oil we can make tasty and
delicious food". Even the desserts are
prepared keeping in mind the health concept. While
preparing desserts Sorbitol a natural extract which
tastes sweet and provides fewer calories than regular
sugar is used. "Sobitol just tastes like
sugar and does not alter the taste of the sweet,"
says Radha Reddy. Radha Reddy who teaches
in Kasturbha Gandhi College also answers the diet
related queries and provides free diet information
on 'diet dial service' of the Elixir restaurant.
She is available between 11 am and 10 pm.
Elixir restaurant has 15 tables where 60 people
can sit comfortably. The ambience is pleasant with
well lit interiors and matching decor. The restaurant
has 160 dishes on its menu and 15-20 new dishes
are served to the customers each day. They also
have a 'dial food express service' where the food
is delivered directly to the homes.
