Visionary approach
India
is a land of visions even though some of us are not blessed
with vision. Sight for the sightless is a difficult dream
to achieve but making the dream come true is the motto
of
L V Prasad Eye Institute. A world-class eye care centre,
the institute was set up in the city in 1986.
The institute was named after the noted film producer
L V Prasad in recognition of his vital contribution
in this field. Recognised as one of Asia's best eye care
centre, it has an eye hospital, a research centre,
a rehabilitation centre, a training centre, rural and
urban outreach eye care programmes and a product
development centre.
The hospital's mission is to provide eye care of the highest
quality to all segments of the population irrespective
of their financial status. Patient comfort is given great
importance here.
The hospital is located at Banjara Hills and renders
outpatient and inpatient services. The centre has emerged
as a training ground for ophthalmology, optometry and
eye care management.
The research centre here collaborates nationally and internationally
with academic and industrial organisations in its efforts
to study eye diseases prevalent in the developing world.
The Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation, a branch
of the L V Prasad Eye Institute has been involved
in researching causes of blindness and identifying effective
treatment strategies.
The philanthropic heart of the institute is reflected
in the fact that the under privileged classes are charged
at half the regular bill. Nearly 400 doctors, all in-house,
and an ample number of technicians work endlessly towards
their drive at giving sight to the sightless.
The vision of the L V Prasad Eye Institute is a
world free of preventable and curable blindness.
