Kidney
failure continues to rise worldwide. And India is
not far behind. In fact, if we look at the Indian
scenario, it gives us a horrible picture. According
to recent studies, India has more than 5,00,000 patients
with a problem of kidney failure and around 1,00,000
patients added every year to this figure. Out of which
only 2 % of the patients get proper treatment while
the remaining die due to lack of treatment. According
to experts, the major bottlenecks in the field of
kidney treatment are poor quality of dialysis, lack
of infrastructure, low awareness among the people
and financial problems.
Nefron
Limited - a fast growing global healthcare company,
through its chain of Nefron Dialysis Centres
(NDC) across the world, aims at addressing these bottlenecks
by offering high quality dialysis treatment that can
help kidney failure patients lead an improved life.
Making a foray into the Hyderabad market, Nefron has
opened its state-of-the-art dialysis centre, which
is the first of its kind facility in the whole of
south India and the second in whole of India, after
Ahmedabad. "This international standard Nefron
Dialysis Centre will offer an effective and economically
viable treatement for kidney ailments. Incorporated
with advanced equipment and technology, this centre
will prove a boon to kidney patients," said
Mr Amish Vyas, Head, Nefron Limited. This is
a third dialysis centre in the state after Warangal,
Khammam and Kurnool.
Located
near Banjara Hills Police Station, the spacious NDC
is equipped with 11 fully computerized dialysis machines
with facilities such as exclusive rooms, waiting lounge,
ICU room, water purification plant based on RODM technology,
reprocessing facilities for positive patients, electronically
controlled dialysis chairs with inbuilt weighing balance,
water loop system, pantry, ambulance service, D.G.
sets for uninterrupted power supply and recreational
facilities like TV, personal stereo, etc. The centre
will house a qualified team of professionals including
doctors, dialysis technicians, a patient support executive,
dietician cum counselor, quality assurance executive
and diagnostic service officer.
Talking about the mission of the company,
Mr Nayan Rao, Director - Corporate, Nefron
Limited said, "at Nefron, we believe in helping
the patients suffering from kidney failure to lead
a normal life through high quality dialysis and medical
care. We strongly believe that the life is worth living
even after a kidney failure".
Apart from providing world-class dialysis
services, the company also runs regular patient care
programmes to educate the patients about the ways
and methods to lead a happy and healthy life even
after a kidney failure. NDC brings out a regular newsletter
called 'Smiles', which talks about the NDC
family. It also runs various programmes like 'Quality
For Life' - a knowledge series on quality of dialysis
and 'Nutrition For You' - a knowledge series
on nutrition for leading a healthier life. It also
runs programs called sponsor a dialysis for needy
patients, which collects sponsorships from various
Indian institutions and foundations to help needy
patients.
