Andhra
Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Limited
(APIDC) was established on 16 December, 1960, by
the Government of Andhra Pradesh for planned development
of medium and large industries in the State. Since its
inception, APIDC, catalysed a total industrial investment
of about Rs. 5000 crores in 786 industrial units and created
direct employment opportunities for 1.40 lakh persons.
Identifying and promotion of entrepreneurial talent, conceptualizing
and exploitation of resources for comprehensive industrial
development of the State are the main objectives of the
organisation. Apart from taking part in the promotion,
generation and implementation of new project ideas, guidance
and comprehensive escort service to the entrepreneurs,
APIDC also functions as an extended arm of government
and Banking Institutions. It takes up financial activities
like participation in equity capital, providing term loans,
bill discounting, guarantees, merchant banking, venture
capital fund for IT industry.
With
the authorised capital of Rs. 110 crores and paid up capital
of Rs. 96.23 crores, APIDC has created a strong local
entrepreneurial base by extending guidance and a helping
hand to first generation entrepreneurs. On the other hand
the organisation played a key role in planned industrial
development of the Sate by promoting a number of projects
based on the rich natural resources of the State like
Agro, Mineral, Marine, Forest, Livestock.
Industrialisation efforts of APIDC has resulted in the
State receiving crores of rupees in the form of various
taxes and duties. Thanks to APIDC, organisations which
had humble beginnings like Nagarjuna Group, NCL, Novopan,
to name a few, are today corporate bodies of international
repute.
The
New Equity Policy of the Corporation proposes to
give a special impetus to industrial development. The
corporation has identified the following for special focus
areas for investment. They are Food&Agro Processing
except traditional industries, Petroleum&Petro-chemicals,
Chemicals & Fertilizers, Engineering & Automotive,
Mineral Based industries, Information Technology, 100%
Export Oriented Units, Biotechnology, Renewable Sources
of Energy, Energy saving devices and appliances, Energy
Efficient and Waste Reduction Technologies, Pollution
control equipment and devices, Waste Utilisation and Recycling.
