Here is an organisation that takes care of
the small, medium and large scale manufacturers. It is
All India Manufacturers' Organisation (AIMO).
In late 1940s Bharat Ratna late Dr. Mokshagundam
Visvesvaraya, laid the foundation of the AIMO. Today,
it is one of the leading organisations of industrialists
and manufacturers in India like the Federation of Indian
Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) and the
Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). " Prosperity
through Industry" as its motto, AIMO breeds and nurtures
the cult of industrial fraternity and the spirit of entrepreneurship.
With head quarters in Mumbai, AIMO has its branches in
all states. The AIMO, Andhra Pradesh State Board is
situated in Hyderabad. AIMO, as an All India organisation
makes effective representation at all levels of Government
regarding a variety of problems and needs of the industrialists.
This representative character of the AIMO is its basic
strength. It makes it a forum for exchange of views and
thus paves the way for establishing and developing new
business relationships and for exploring new business
prospects.
 The
AIMO offers its members expert services on important problems
such as Central Excise, Sales Tax, Labour, Power, Industrial
Finance, Exports and Imports. It also conducts Panel
Discussions on various subjects including the Budget,
Seminars, Training programmes, Round Table Discussions
to provide a common forum to AIMO members and other participants
to examine and understand current economic issues to arrive
at a consensus of views, and to represent these views
to the government. Through its monthly newsletter AIMO
furnishes up to-date information on Government notifications
with a view to enabling the members to be abreast of Government's
thinking on all vital issues. The organisation has published
A.P. State Industrial Directory in 1990.
Looking at the growing clout of Information Technology,
AIMO has appointed Computer Education Franchise
Centres all over the state to impart computer education
to the youth. The quality of the training is on par with
the international standards and the certificates issued
by AIMO are honoured in United States of America.
The AIMO A.P. State Board presents prestigious annual
" Dr. Visvesvaraya Industrial Awards" to the best
performers in the Large, Medium Small Scale Industries,
Export, Import Substitution and Best Women Entrepreneur.
Apart from these, the "Best Industrial Worker" and
the " Member of the Year" awards are also presented
every year. A Managing Committee consisting of
20 members elected every year runs the organisation. The
office bearers consist of President, Vice- President,
Secretary and Treasurer. Manufacturers who satisfy
the laid criteria are eligible to get the membership of
AIMO. Bigwigs like Satyam Computers, Andhra Sugars,
Elico andVST Industries are on the members'
list. Government has given special recognition
to AIMO for championing the cause of Industry, Commerce
and Trade by giving representation on several Key-Advisory
Committees constituted both by the Centre and the
State.
