BOLERO - A TOUGH COMPETITOR After the small Maruti, big Ford and the recent mid sized sedans, the Multi Utility Vehicles (MUV) are making ripples in the automobile market. The multi utility vehicles are stronger and built to take on the rough and rugged roads. Yet they are also suitable for official and private use like weekend trips and picnics. Those looking to own a multi utility vehicle must check out the Bolero, premium class vehicle, introduced by Mahindra and Mahindra, the largest manufacturer of multi utility vehicles in India. Inspite of being a late entrant in the premium utility market, Bolero is expected to give tough competition to the existing brands, Toyota Qualis and Tata Safari. Bolero, fitted with all the new generation gadgets like power steering, power windows, central locking system and central air conditioning is available in four different metallic shades. Aerodynamic structure and double wishbone independent front suspension (in two-wheel drive) ensures a smooth and comfortable ride. The noise, harshness, vibration reduction technology of Bolero allows the rider to enjoy a smooth ride accompanied by melodious music from the factory fitted Kenwood audio system. Bolero is priced at Rs. 4,92,017 (ex-showroom) in Hyderabad. The price may differ slightly from one variant to another. "Bolero's advantage is its price. While the existing competitors Qualis and Safari are priced at above Rs 7 lakhs, Bolero costs 2 lakhs lesser besides all the advanced features", said Banerjee, Assistant Sales Manager, Automotive Manufacturers Limited, the sole dealer of Mahindra products in Hyderabad. He further explained that since its (Bolero's) launch in the last week of September, the dealer has sold eleven vehicles and another 25 are awaiting delivery. The countrywide network of Mahindra dealers and servicing centres as well as easy availability of spare parts is an added advantage to the Bolero over its competitors. The Mahindra Bolero GLX is available in eight different variants with 7 and 8 seats, some of which are compliant with either India-2000 or Euro-II emission standards.
