MODERN TECHNIQUE TO BE A CROREPATI
If you want to realise your crorepati dreams, you
must increase your knowledge base. For that you need
to read a lot. But do you have enough time to read all
the stuff after your daily routine? Well, apparently
there is, provided you are familiar with 'Rapid Reading'.
Rapid reading is nothing but reading faster than
normal speed without losing track of the subject. In
other words, it is a technique to help one read more
in lesser time.
Generally, people read at a speed of 150 - 190 words
per minute. With rapid reading technique you can increase
your reading speed to 350 - 500 words a minute. Anand
Chaturvedi, a Hyderabadi settled in Bangalore has
been practicing and propagating rapid reading technique
for the past six years. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering,
Chaturvedi is now engaged in training marketing and
sales people besides rapid reading.
Chaturvedi
picked up this tehcnique on one of his business trips
to Hong Kong, several years ago. Over the years, he
developed some more techniques of his own. While launching
his training programme in Hyderabad, Anand Chaturvedi
explained the benefits and techniques of Rapid Reading
to Hyderabad-best.com.
Anand Chaturvedi firmly believes that rapid reading
adds more creativity to our thoughts. He says, "Generally,
some situations of routine life compel us to read faster...
for instance, if you borrow a newspaper from your neighbour,
you have to finish it within an hour, then you would
be forced to read fast. In this process you just read
only what you want, ignoring other news. This is called
skipping and skimming, this is the same technique generally
followed in developing faster reading habits."
He further explained that the mechanical barriers like
lip reading, pen pointing, finger pointing, loud reading,
head nodding and leg shaking while reading, hampers
faster reading. According to him, reading is a visual
process, wherein our brain captures the photo of the
printed document and saves it. Whenever you want to
recollect the matter, the photo appears before your
eyes.

But will comprehension reduce with faster reading?
Chaturvedi expels any such doubts with an example. When
a person drives above normal speed, his/her concentration
certainly will be more. The same applies to rapid reading
also.
According to Chaturvedi, "Our concentration
plays a major role in faster reading. Scientific studies
prove that at any given time, generally 40 per cent
of an adult's consciousness dwells in the past and 40
per cent in the future, leaving only 20 per cent to
the present. If the percentage of present consciousness
can be increased to 80, then you can grasp much from
faster reading."
Until now, Chaturvedi has trained 150 people in rapid
reading. The duration of the course is one week of 80
minutes a day and the fee is Rs. 1,200.
