ALEAP - WHERE WOMEN ACHIEVERS COME TOGETHER  

ALEAP - Empowering womenAssociation of Lady Entrepreneurs of Andhra Pradesh (ALEAP) was constituted in December 1993 to bring together women entrepreneurs to face the challenges posed by the entrepreneurial world and motivate women to start an enterprise or manufacturing activity. ALEAP tries to always be with the women as a guide, "to hold their hand and be there when the need arises." Women who have realised their potential, women who are independent, women who are self-employed and engaged in enterprises can become its members. Patronised by Haripriya Rangarajan, the Lady Governor of Andhra Pradesh, ALEAP has K Rama Devi as its President.

Industrial Estate for Women

Chandrababu Naidu at one of the ALEAP salesALEAP's dream is to see that women get the finest infrastructure to start their own industries. It has set up the country's first industrial estate exclusively for women entrepreneurs at Gajularamaram village in the district of Ranga Reddy. The state government has sanctioned thirty acres of land for this project. This estate has an allotment capacity for a hundred small-scale units. It focuses on setting up units in fields like electronics, food processing, garments, printing and packaging, computer hardware & software, gem processing and small engineering units.

The state government has also provided commercial place at HUDA's Commercial Complex, Tarnaka, at a concessional rate, to market the products of ALEAP's members and has sanctioned one acre of land to set up Entrepreneurship ALEAP - Sale of solar cookersDevelopment Institute in the city.

  • Acts as a facilitator and a guide. It empowers and supports women in their endeavours to become socially and economically independent.
  • Assists women to learn and acquire entrepreneurial abilities and to realise their potential and work towards its fulfilment.
  • Provides women with information and encourages them in economic activities by helping them to get access to adequate and quality credit.
  • Mediates between the government and the women entrepreneurs and encourages the entrepreneurs to overcome gender-related barriers.
  • Conducts exhibitions and sends delegates all around India and abroad to gather market information, thus helping in market promotion.
  • Provides product & market information along with information on technology, innovation & trade
  • Trains in production management & marketing.
  • Offers consultancy & counselling services.

Achievements ALEAP- Training programme

ALEAP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Corporation for the manufacturing and marketing of dairy products by its members.

  • It has provided international market exposure to its members by leading a delegation to Sri Lanka Expo '94 and participating in the World Conference.
  • ALEAP has held several exhibitions in the state as well as outside.
  • It has successfully conducted State, National and International Conferences including the following:
  • Indian Women Entrepreneurs Conference (IWEC) in 1999 at Hyderabad.
  • National Conference of Women Entrepreneurs at Tirupati in 1997;
  • International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs 1993 in collaboration with National Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (NAYE);
  • ALEAP has held entrepreneurship development programmes, seminars and training programmes.

On the Anvil

Among the programmes on the anvil are the setting up of technical colleges for women, setting up women entrepreneurs at industrial estates in other major towns of the state, providing finance through micro credit as well as the setting up of a trade centre for women at Hyderabad.
