When
the IT-savvy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu
Naidu visited Mount Abu, he was literally
'transformed' by the influence of the serene and spiritual
atmosphere at the Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya
Vishwa Vidyalaya. He said that he would use spiritual
and moral precepts to transform Andhra Pradesh
into a vibrant and peaceful State. "I am not
a spiritual leader, but I can firmly say that spirituality
alone can transform society," Naidu remarked.
How did the Brahma Kumaris manage to influence the hitech
chief minister in such a big way?
The Brahma Kumaris teach simple techniques to overcome
the daily tensions, negative impressions of life, pessimism,
tolerance, adjustment, judgement and discretion, the
essentials of a happy life through Raja Yoga meditation.
"Raja Yoga meditation is a pure form of meditation
which can be practiced with open eyes and while performing
our daily activities," said Sister Raju,
who gives spiritual training at the Raja Yoga Centre
in Tarnaka.
She
further explained that "Brahma Kumaris offer
an opportunity to learn meditation and deepen people's
understanding of universal principles and innate values
through a variety of educational programmes, courses
and learning resources. Raja Yoga is a natural form
of yoga while the Reiki and Sidda Samadhi
Yoga come under Hatha Yoga, which can be
practiced only through closed eye meditation and concentrating
on a particular thing for a stipulated period of time.
But in Brahma Kumaris we offer a free seven day course
at our centres on Raja Yoga, self realisation, to improve
concentration power, memory power, God realisation and
attainment of peace and purity."
Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya,
known as Brahma Kumaris Spiritual World Organisation
theworld over, is one of the largest international
spirituo-social networks in the world. It was established
in 1936-37 by Late Dada Lekhraj, popularly known
as Prajapita Brahma. Founded at Hyderabad
(Sind), now in Pakistan, the headquarters
of the organisation was moved to
Mt. Abu, Rajasthan, India in the year 1951.

goodness of every human being and helps people rediscover
the goodness within them, encouraging and facilitating
the development of spiritual awareness, attitudes, behaviours
and skills through a process of lifelong learning. It
is open to everyone irrespective of nationality, race,
religion, caste, creed, sect, gender or age.
Brahma Kumaris, popularly called as BKs has a

moral and spiritual values everyday and practice meditation
at these centres. The institution has gained international

Meditation Technique. The institution coordinates international
and community projects, has created opportunities for
people in 129 countries to participate in a number of
initiatives aimed at creating a world where people live
in peace and harmony.
"The aim of Brahma Kumaris is to make the world
free from all tensions and frustrations by bringing
perfection in the lives of the people by making them
worship 'worthy to worship worth', i.e. Poojari to
Poojya," said Sister Raju.
It is affiliated as an NGO to the Economic
and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations
and also to the UNICEF. It has been awarded a
Peace Medal, an international and five national
