Bond with nature - Bairu Raghuram
Here is an artist in harmony with the subjects of his
art.
Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Bairu Raghuramcompleted
his Bachelor of Artsfro m
Osmania University and acquired
a Diploma in Drawing and Paintingfrom
the Ideal Fine Arts Institute, Gulbarga
in
Karnataka.
In a career that spans nearly three decades, he has
held exhibitions of his art all over India. He has participated
in several All India National and International Art
Exhibitions including the 50 years India Independence
- Exhibitions.
For years he confined his works to the technical idiosyncrasies
of printmaking by working in monotones. As he gained
confidence, he started displaying a brilliant sense
of colour that was missing in his earlier works. He
believes in maintaining a strong bond with the subject
and says, "…the human form, animals or even vegetation,
combine to be my pictorial family." Bairu Raghuram
has won more than ten awards for his outstanding works
of art. These include the gold medal from the Hyderabad
Art Society in 1996 and a National Award in
1997. He has participated in many all-India painting
and graphic camps as well as camps in the USA, UK
and France. His collections are famous and are displayed
in many galleries both in India and abroad.
