Ramalinga Raju is the man who goaded the nawabi Hyderabad
to go hitech. The Chairman, Satyam Computer Services and
its subsidiary Satyam Infoway, he established Satyam,
one of the first IT companies, way back in 1987. It
went public in 1992. Since then the company has grown
to become one of India's eminent IT companies with a truly
global presence. Servicing over 150 Fortune and 500 multinational
corporations, Satyam Infoway is the first Indian Internet
company to be listed on Nasdaq.
Ramalinga Raju's vision for the company envisages
an organization that is respected for its customer orientation,
global standards of quality and service , and the professionalism
and commitment of its over 6000 employees. He
believes in the spirit of entrepreneurship and has implemented
a unique management structure in Satyam. His Concept of
Circles, does away with conventional pyramidal
hierarchy and empowers individuals to act as chief executives
of an organization. This has enabled the company to react
quickly and effectively to the changing market and technological
situations. Ramalinga Raju's initiative and dedicated
work are recognised worldwide. The Switzerland based World
Economic Forum conferred on Satyam the "Global
Growth Company" and the "Technology Pioneer "
awards. In 1999, he won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
of the Year Services award. He has delivered keynote
addresses at several management, scientific, educational
and industry-related meets, both in India and abroad.
Raju has acquired an MBA degree from the Ohio University,USA
and has attended the Owner/President course
at Harvard. He has done extensive work on the concept
of Numeric Management, which forms the platform
for a Collaborative Enterprise Management software
product launched recently by his Satyam company.
