He
is acknowledged to have introduced CAD/CAM in a big way
in India. He is
B V R Mohan Reddy, the Founder-Chairman and
CEO of Hyderabad-based InfoTech Enterprises Limited,
a Software Exports Company. An entrepreneur par excellence,
Mohan Reddy started this company in 1991 to "Integrate
technology and talent for the 90s and beyond" and
built it to become today's leader in the spatial and engineering
business.
This brilliant achievement is rooted in his equally brilliant
academic record. Mohan was a gold medalist in mechanical
engineering from the Andhra University. He followed it
up by taking two masters degrees. One in Management
Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor, USA and the other in Industrial Engineering
from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),
Kanpur.
He began his career in 1974 by joining the DCM Group.
Subsequently, he worked with MICO Bosch and HCL
group, before becoming the Managing Director of OMC
Computers Limited, India. It was in this company that
Mohan Reddy pioneered the CAD/CAM culture in India.
Tody, Mohan Reddy has over twenty-six years of experience
in engineering and management.
Mohan has been the President of the Electronic
Industries Association of Andhra Pradesh (ELIAP) for
two years and of the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association
(HYSEA) for four successive years. In 1996, he won
the prestigious 'Entrepreneur of the Year' award
from the Hyderabad Management Association. That's
not all. In 1997, he was awarded the HYSEA Outstanding
Contribution Award for his efforts to promote Software
Industry in the State of Andhra Pradesh and in 1999, he
won Ernst & Young's 'Outstanding Entrepreneur
award'.
Today, B V R Mohan Reddy's Infotech Enterprises has
grown multi fold. It has strategic alliances and business
partners in USA, Europe, Australia and Japan and its customers
include several Fortune 500 companies. Nevertheless Mohan
plans to lead the company to greater heights, to become,
as many company officials say, 'a global software powerhouse.'
In his words: 'My vision is to build a global software
company for the current millennium.' Looking at his
achievement rate, it seems that he would.
