Piloting on a Spiritual Plane
A miraculous escape from a fatal air crash in 1982 changed
the life of Indian Air Force Officer
N V John. Belonging to a Syrian Catholic family
of Kerala, John, at the age of 37, had a bright career
ahead. Yet, he opted for voluntary retirement. He turned
spiritual. He took deeksha from Guru Swami Dayananda Benedicte
in 1984. He began to ask himself questions on various
aspects of religion and life. He pondered and became a
moral preacher. Today, he devotes all his hours to promote
unity and peace in the world and to keep alive the morale
of fellow Indians.
Sachidanand believes that as 85 per cent of the world's
population has faith in religion, all problems of human
beings can be solved through religious motivation. "Peace
in the world is impossible without peace and cooperation
among the religions of the world. Wars and violence
are often products of selfishness, greed, lust, fear
and insecurity. Poverty and hunger are also the products
of these evils that are inherent in all human beings.
These forces of evil can be fought and overcome only
with the help of religion," he advocates strongly.
To propagate Indian culture of peace and non-violence,
John Sachidanand founded 'Dharma Rajya Vedi'
in 1990, visualising it as an inter-religious oraganisation
for New Indian Renaissance. To promote the vision and
mission of Dharma Rajya Vedi in educational institutions
across the country, he started 'Dharma Bharathi National
Institute of Peace and Value Education' in 1993
at Hyderabad.
After over 15 years of the predestined plane crash,
he launched the National Regeneration Project,
his long-awaited dream project aimed at recultivating
moral values in children and adults. For this project,
he took the help of like-minded voluntary organisations.
Launched in August last year, this three year pilot
project has already got a boost with two state governments
showing interest in introducing moral education in the
school curriculum.
On invitation, Acharya John Sachidanand offeres the
following programmes.
- Peace and Value Education seminars and workshops
for college/school teachers and students.
- Spiritual Orientation Programmes for Industrial
and Business Houses, Educational Institutions, Voluntary
Agencies.
- Enlightened Leadership Courses for those
aspiring to play leadership roles in religious, social,
political and economic fields.
John Sachidanand's wife, Lalitha Elizabeth,
is Collector of Customs and Central Excise. They have
two college-going children. He has been invited to participate
in the Millennium World Peace Summit, to be held at
UN head quarters, in New York, from August 28 to 31.
