Stunning naval display

It was a brilliant display of skills by the commandos, airmen and divers of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Rescue MissionVisakhapatnam on Sunday at the Tankbund.

In an exercise jointly carried out by the Eastern Naval Command and Department of Tourism to increase the awareness about the operations of the navy, the navy performed adventurous and breath taking feats. Thousands of people thronged to the Tankbund to witness the rare stunts.

The helicopters involved in the operation were Seaking, Kamov, and Chetak. This visual treat included commandos jumping from their helicopters on to the Gemini boats.

Destroying Mock TargetsThe commandos dived into the Hussain Sagar lake from their Chetak helicopter and the rescue operation that followed was a stunning display of skills by the airmen. The commandos of the navy carried out the demolition of mock target in the lake.

Pilots effortlessly flew the Seaking and Chetak helicopters performing amazing helobatics, while a terrific feat was displayed when the dual rotator blade Russian built Kamov helicopter hung in air for 5 minutes.

Adding to this spectacular Sunday evening was the music by an ensemble of 30 musicians from the navy. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Rear Admiral B.S. Randhawa and former Air Chief Latif and many other dignitaries attended the function. The display which was carried out for an hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. enthralled all who were present.
