Stunning
naval display
It was a brilliant display of skills by the commandos,
airmen and divers of the Eastern Naval Command
(ENC), Visakhapatnam
on Sunday at the Tankbund.
In an exercise jointly carried out by the Eastern
Naval Command and Department of Tourism
to increase the awareness about the operations
of the navy, the navy performed adventurous and
breath taking feats. Thousands of people thronged
to the Tankbund to witness the rare stunts.
The helicopters involved in the operation were
Seaking, Kamov, and Chetak. This visual
treat included commandos jumping from their helicopters
on to the Gemini boats.
The
commandos dived into the Hussain Sagar lake
from their Chetak helicopter and the rescue
operation that followed was a stunning display
of skills by the airmen. The commandos of the
navy carried out the demolition of mock target
in the lake.
Pilots effortlessly flew the Seaking and Chetak
helicopters performing amazing helobatics, while
a terrific feat was displayed when the dual rotator
blade Russian built Kamov helicopter hung in air
for 5 minutes.
Adding to this spectacular Sunday evening was
the music by an ensemble of 30 musicians from
