The Government of Andhra Pradesh has
created the Infrastructure Initiative Fund as a dedicated
corpus fund aimed at meeting the project definition expenses
and providing key inputs for the management of the privatization
process. This fund shall play a pivotal role in removing
the lacunae in the privatization process and thereby help
in accelerating private investment in the infrastructure
sector. The Government has released Rs. 5 crores as seed
capital to the AP Infrastructure Initiative Fund. This
Fund is to be utilized to identify priorities and define
select infrastructure projects for private participation
and channelise international expertise into project definition
and configuration. It analyses best practices and models
to be followed domestically and abroad and advises the
Government to actively co-ordinate with the concerned
departments in formulating policies and regulations. Feedback
Ventures and Collaboration Services (P) Ltd. have been
retained for structuring and operationalising of APIIF.
This consultancy shall interact with and raise contributions
to the corpus fund of about Rs. 50 crores from multilateral
and domestic financial institutions. They shall suggest
a legally acceptable entity to be formed for monitoring
the work of APIIF, fund management arrangements and market
the concept of APIIF. They are also trying to raise the
funds for this corpus.
